There are outdoor adventures awaiting even when you are not on the lake. The surrounding Russell Forest comprises 25,000 acres of lush hardwoods and pines, intermittent streams, native wildlife and more than 100 miles of hiking, biking and equestrian trails.
RUSSELL FOREST
Russell is part preserve and part playground. Russell Lands has set aside several thousand acres throughout its property at Lake Martin known as the Russell Forest. Russell Forest will ensure that future generations of Lake Martin residents and visitors may personally experience the woodlands by hiking, bike riding, and horseback riding.
THE STABLES
The Stables at Russell Crossroads is surrounded by acres of rolling pastures and trails through the woods. The Stables at Russell Crossroads is a working two-story equestrian center housing quarter horses to Clydesdales—sometimes, goats too. Guided trail rides are available from your hosts, Stanley and Linda. The Stables is also a favorite venue for rustic weddings at Russell Lands.
THE AMP ON LAKE MARTIN
The AMP” is host to a variety of annual events, including Alex City Jazz Fest, Fourth of July concert and fireworks, and our Labor Day Weekend concert blowout.
ADVENTURE CENTER
The Adventure Center helps residents and visitors alike experience the many recreational opportunities Lake Martin has to offer—both on the water and off. They can help you plan activities such as guided horseback rides, renting bikes, canoes and kayaks.
THE NATURALIST
Marianne Gauldin, is the Russell Lands Naturalist and Wildlife Educator. She is a lifelong student of nature and an avid outdoorsman with extensive experience using forests as classrooms. Marianne introduces visitors to Lake Martin’s variety of nature through specially scheduled Guided Nature Tours and Wildlife Presentations at the Russell Crossroads Naturalist Cabin.
